Adopt-a-Stream: Bug ID Day​

What did we find during our fall Stream Searches? Come help us find out!
​
Join River Raisin Watershed Council for Adopt-a-Stream Bug ID Day, where volunteers will sort and identify the aquatic macroinvertebrates or “river bugs”, collected during our fall monitoring events.
​
By identifying the different organisms we find, we can learn more about the health of our local streams and gather valuable information about water quality throughout the River Raisin Watershed.
​
No experience is necessary! We’ll provide guidance and everything you need to participate. You also do not need to have attended a Stream Search to join us, new volunteers are always welcome.

While these are partner-led events, the River Raisin Watershed Council will be present to connect with community members, share resources, and highlight ways to protect and care for our local waterways.
Community Tree Planting ​

Join River Raisin Watershed Council and our community partners for two volunteer tree-planting events this October in Tecumseh and Adrian. These community plantings will add trees in areas identified as priorities for stormwater management, helping to intercept rainfall, reduce stormwater runoff, and provide lasting environmental benefits.
​
ReLeaf Michigan’s tree experts will be on hand at both events to show volunteers how to properly plant a tree, so no previous experience is necessary. Families are welcome! Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring a shovel, hard rake, and gloves if you have them. Both events will take place rain or shine.​

Adrian Tree Planting

Stubnitz Environmental Education Center at Heritage Park

Volunteers will help plant 40 trees throughout Heritage Park.
