Grow Your Skills. Grow a Cleaner River.

The Master Rain Gardener Program is a hands-on training that empowers community members to design and build their own rain gardens with beautiful landscapes that soak up rainwater, reduce flooding, and protect the River Raisin.
Participants learn from experts and local partners through interactive classes, field visits, and design workshops. By the end of the program, you’ll be ready to create your own rain garden and even earn your Master Rain Gardener Certification.
What is a Rain Garden?
A rain garden is a landscaped area planted with native flowers, shrubs, and grasses that captures stormwater runoff from roofs, driveways, and streets. Instead of letting polluted runoff go straight into storm drains, rain gardens naturally filter the water, recharge groundwater, and reduce pollution to our rivers and lakes.
